Sarah Aly
Sarah Aly is a PhD student in Comparative Literature at the University of South Carolina. Originally from Alexandria, Egypt, she earned her BA in English Language and Literature (2020) and her MA in English Literature (2025) from Alexandria University. In 2023–2024, she was selected as a Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant and taught Arabic at Mercyhurst University in Erie, Pennsylvania. During her MA studies, she also spent a semester conducting research at the University of the Aegean in Lesvos, Greece, as an Erasmus exchange student. 
 
At the University of South Carolina, she serves as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures, with responsibilities that include teaching beginner-level Arabic, with a focus on the Egyptian register, alongside other instructional responsibilities. Her research interests include Arabic Literature, Egyptian Film, Literary engagements with the Egyptian Revolution of 2011, and theoretical frameworks such as geocriticism and deconstruction.
