Our Staff

The Writing Center is staffed by graduate students. Each staff member has at least a Bachelor’s degree and is pursuing an M.A., M.F.A., or Ph. D in an English discipline.

Jennifer Blevins

Jennifer Blevins (she/her)
Interim Director

Jennifer is delighted to join the staff as interim director for the 2025-26 academic year. In addition to serving as an assistant director in the USC Writing Center, she has also worked in the writing centers of Wake Forest University and Somerset Community College. An instructor in the English department, Jennifer currently teaches Social Advocacy & Ethical Life (SAEL 200). She holds a BA in English & Theatre and an MA in English from Wake Forest University, as well as an MFA in Creative Writing and a PhD in English from USC. Her first book, Limited by Body Habitus: An American Fat Story, won the 2018 Autumn House Press Nonfiction Prize. She enjoys guiding and supporting students through all stages of the writing process.


Meg

Meg (she/her)
Assistant Director

Meg is a doctoral student at the University of South Carolina studying Composition and Rhetoric. Her background in English Education and Women’s and Gender Studies informs her critical research on gender-neutral language use, first-year composition textbooks, and rhetorical action and enaction to challenge linguistic violence in the U.S. Her aim is to continue the work of undoing systemic injustice through understanding and navigating complex terrains with rhetorical intentionality. Her work can be seen in Critical Sexuality Studies, Lavender Languages, and Everyday Life (Bloomsbury, 2024) and in Ex ӕquo 49 (2024).


Sam

Sam (she/her)
Assistant Director

Sam is a second year PhD student in Composition and Rhetoric and an English instructor at UofSC. She earned her both her BA (2021) and MA  (2023) in English from Winthrop University. While at Winthrop, she worked as a tutor in the WC at Winthrop University. Sam enjoys working with students across all disciplines and helping them strengthen their writing skills.
