Background

George Biashvili is an Assistant Professor of Law at the University of South Carolina School of Law, where he teaches and writes about the First Amendment, torts, and media law. His current work focuses on dignitary and reputational harms caused by AI-generated media.

Prior to his appointment at the University of South Carolina, Professor Biashvili was a visiting faculty member at the University of Georgia School of Law. Before entering academia, he was an associate at Latham & Watkins LLP, where he handled a range of complex litigation matters and maintained a pro bono practice representing clients in asylum and post-conviction proceedings. He served in the United States Army before law school, first as a paratrooper and later in its special operations forces.

Professor Biashvili earned his B.S. in Psychology, summa cum laude, from Liberty University and his J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School. At Harvard, he was an editor of the Harvard Journal on Legislation and received the Dean’s Award for Community Leadership.
