Background

Rob Spooner is the Owner and Founder of Momentum People Group, a people-focused consulting and coaching firm that helps organizations strengthen leadership, improve performance, and align their people strategies with business outcomes. Through fractional HR leadership, executive coaching, and targeted consulting engagements, Rob partners with companies to solve real operational challenges, from leadership gaps and retention issues to culture, structure, systems and long-term talent development.

With more than 20 years of experience in hospitality, wellness, and service-driven industries, Rob has held senior HR leadership roles with organizations including Hyatt, Sodexo Live!, and the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance. He has worked across multi-unit operations, high-volume environments, and complex workforce models, giving him a clear understanding of what it takes to lead teams, build consistency, and deliver results in fast-moving businesses.

Rob is known for his direct, practical approach. He works closely with executives, operators, and emerging leaders to close the gap between strategy and execution, helping leaders not only understand what needs to change, but how to implement it in a way that works within the realities of their day-to-day operations.

In addition to his consulting work, Rob serves as a Professor of Management and Leadership at the University of South Carolina’s Darla Moore School of Business. His teaching is grounded in real-world application, challenging students to think beyond theory and develop the judgment, presence, and decision-making skills required to lead in complex business environments.

What sets Rob apart is his ability to operate at both levels, advising leadership while also working directly with the people responsible for execution. This perspective allows him to connect strategy to action in a way that drives measurable impact across the organization.

Organizations that invest in their people with intention don’t just develop better leaders, they build stronger teams, improve retention, and create a competitive advantage that is difficult to replicate. Learn more at www.mpeoplegroup.com
