Should I attend both days?
The professional conference, on Friday, Oct. 9 , is designed for communications professionals, educators and university students. The Student AI Challenge on Saturday, Oct. 10 is designed specifically for university students. Industry professionals may participate as observers or mentors.

What is the Student AI Challenge
On Saturday, Oct. 10, students from colleges and universities from across South Carolina will form interdisciplinary teams to tackle a real business challenge using state-of-the-art AI tools, including Google Gemini and the award-winning Vurvey AI platform. Industry mentors and coaches will be on hand throughout the day to guide teams as they develop creative, strategic solutions.

No coding experience is required — just curiosity, collaboration, and a desire to explore how AI is transforming journalism, advertising, public relations, and media. Whether you win a prize or not, you'll leave with valuable hands-on experience and a story to tell future employers.

Is this a technical AI conference?
No. This conference is designed for communications professionals, educators and students interested in how AI is transforming journalism, advertising, public relations and corporate communications. No programming or coding experience is required.

Do I need to bring a laptop?
No laptop is required for Friday's conference. Students participating in Saturday's Applied AI Challenge should plan to bring a laptop if possible. Additional information will be provided before the competition.
 
Can students attend?
Absolutely. University students are encouraged to attend Friday's conference and participate in Saturday's Applied AI Challenge. Student registration is complimentary but advance registration is required.
 
Is parking available?
Yes. Parking is available in the Bull Street Parking Garage, 611 Bull Street, Columbia, SC 29208 (access via Blossom Street).
 
Will I receive additional information before the conference?
Yes. Registered attendees will receive additional information prior to the conference, including the final agenda, parking reminders and other event updates.
 
Will meals be provided?
Yes. Professional registration includes morning coffee and a boxed lunch.
