Biography

The Busbee lab is interested in research focused on mucosal immunology and gut immunity. In particular, we study intestinal inflammation (e.g. Inflammatory Bowel Diseases/IBDs) in the context of host-microbiome interactions, immune responses, molecular mechanisms, and potential therapeutics. We also research extraintestinal manifestations (EIM) associated with IBD, particularly impacts on overall brain health. Understanding the complex gut-brain axis (GBA) might better help IBD patients with additional comorbidities, such as depression and other behavioral disorders.
