School of Medicine GreenvilleAt a Glance

The University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville educates physicians who are committed to improving the health and wellness of families and communities.

For just over a decade, the school has provided comprehensive medical education to University of South Carolina students in Greenville, the state’s fourth fastest-growing city. Our students learn from a clinical team of more than 1,200 experienced faculty through an integrated curriculum delivered in partnership with Prisma Health-Upstate, the region’s largest care provider.

Improving Health and Wellness

Our immersive, observational approach focuses on patients, community health and the changing practice of medicine. In fact, 80% of student projects investigate questions and innovations that are related to health delivery. As early as the first week, you’ll work hands on in the field in an EMT training program.

Equity is Essential

South Carolinians deserve to have physicians who look like them and can relate to them. Almost 22% of our students are from underrepresented populations. Access and Opportunity efforts are incredibly important to us, and we are intentional about cultivating team building and community.

  • On the Forefront

The School of Medicine Greenville was the first school in the nation to integrate EMT training and certification into the first-year medical curriculum. Once certified, you’ll work as an EMT  on ambulances, in the emergency department and at community events. These in-the-field experiences build your skills and link classroom learning to real-world clinical care.
