Two sections of University 101 classes this fall are specifically designed to help students who identify as first-generation make a successful transition to higher education.
Why it matters: Transitioning to campus life is crucial to finding success in college. This unique U101 class will connect students to the resources available for them.
- 20% of the University of South Carolina’s incoming freshman class identify as first-gen.
What’s Next: Register for the classes U101-270 (MWF 12pm-12:50pm) or U101-271 (MWF 1:10pm-2pm).
- Amanda Therrell, director of the Graduation and Retention Network and a first-gen college graduate herself, will teach these sections.
