South Carolina Cello Choir

Professionals, amateurs, teachers and students from around South Carolina and the Southeast region take part in this musical celebration, learning from internationally renowned clinicians and music faculty.

2024 SC Cello Choir at USC School of Music 

The American String Teachers Association (ASTA) South Carolina Cello Choir and Workshop is for cellists of all ages and ability levels. The annual Cello Choir has taken place every September since its inception at the University of South Carolina in 1980. The event alternates between the University of South Carolina, Furman University, Bob Jones University, Converse College and the College of Charleston.

Guest Artist Sæunn Thorsteinsdóttir

Sæunn ThorsteinsdóttirIcelandic cellist Sæunn Thorsteinsdóttir enjoys a varied career as a performer, collaborator and artist teacher.  She has appeared as soloist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Seattle Symphony, Toronto Symphony Orchestra and Iceland Symphony, among others, and her recital and chamber music performances have taken her across the US, Europe and Asia.  Sæunn has performed in many of the world’s prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall, Suntory Hall, Elbphilharmonie, Barbican Center and Disney Hall and the Los Angeles Times praised her performances for their “emotional intensity.”
